Cyclones, floods, drought and bushfires. We seem to have it all at the moment.
The horrific bushfires in Victoria have claimed at least 181 human lives, thousands of native animals have been injured or died and hundreds of homes lost.
I'm overwhelmed by the generosity of the people, with public donations hitting $30 million in two days and with flood victims planning on giving money to the bushfire victims.
These bushfires bring back awful memories of the Canberra 2003 bushfires, but on a much larger and much more devastating scale.
We had a few staff members affected by the fires.
Interesting related bushfire links include:
- Bushfires photo gallery - amazing photos from the disaster that really hit home
- @bushfires - Victorian bushfires related information on twitter
- Buy 5 books for the price of 1 at sitepoint - all proceeds go to the 2009 Victorian Bushfire Appeal
- Make a donation at the red cross
My thoughts are with all the people affected by the bushfires, particularly those who have lost their homes and loved ones.
