(This post is part of the Evil Election Eve blog carnival)
It's less than 24 hours before our Aussie Election Day...and I'm pretty much over it, despite managing to avoid most of the propaganda. Something that continues to amaze me during the election campaign trail is the number of political parties who have advertisements bad mouthing the opposing parties. It brings back memories of the school playground and although it's not unexpected on some level, it's still a disappointment.
After a while, many of the political parties start sounding the same. They mouth promises to spend billions on a range of objectives if elected. Objectives such as women's issues, environment, water, education, rural communities, the aged, Aborigines...the list goes on. The question is, what is the truth around these objectives?
The thing is that if you don't laugh, you'll have to start crying. The most recent Chaser's War on Everything episode made me laugh. I liked the following satirical take on one of the adverts commonly seen on telly during this election period.
Other things that caught my sense of humour included the following LOL pols - johnny carebear and yeah, i know it's his left. Unfortunately I couldn't post these images from Flickr as they have an All Rights Reserved licence.
I spent some time looking at the different parties in the ACT, their policies and their preferences. I know that come tomorrow, I'll be numbering every box on the ballot paper (voting below the line), rather than numbering the parties boxes (voting above the line).

Good luck with the voting. I wonder what it's like voting at the embassy - no cake stalls, bouncy castles, etc? ;)
Voting the embassy is a bit of a hassle, with all the security issues (no camera phones etc). This being singapore, I'm sure a jumping castle would be deemed completely inappropriate (though you never know).
Take care!
